How many times in my own life have I heard Christians, Muslims, and whoever else lamenting about how evil this world is and how they can’t wait for this world to end. The late Christopher Hitchens says it much better than I ever could…

Easter is here
Posted by Paulo on February 20, 2012
This is the only thing I like about Easter: Cadbury Caramel Eggs. Chocolate on the outside and chewy caramel on the inside. I stopped by Walmart today on my way home from work and saw that they were there. Every year, that’s how I know Easter is right around the corner.

Put the fear of God in them
Posted by Paulo on September 5, 2010
A while ago Clamence added a page on here showing Facebook status updates from his Christian friends. I’ve included some of my own. Some of these are so disturbing that they deserve their own posts. Read the rest of this entry »

“Missing links” are not missing anymore
Posted by Paulo on April 8, 2010
BBC News: “South African fossils could be new hominid species”
Yet another missing link has been found. This is the latest one in dozens found within the last few years. How many more “missing links” have to be found before people like Wendy Wright admit they exist?
But people like her will never admit these are in fact missing links. They will just say, “Oh, those aren’t missing links, they are just extinct ape species that somewhat resemble humans more than other apes, but they are not humans.”

“Haitians worshiping God in spite of horrors… Amazing!”
Posted by Paulo on March 29, 2010
Every once in a while, for some reason, my mother forwards me these newsletters from missionaries she knows. One such letter came in my inbox today. It was about a pilot who went to Haiti to help with the relief effort right after the big earthquake struck earlier this year. Now, the letter is somewhat private and it explicitly requests on the bottom not to pass it around without permission, so unfortunately I cannot show you the letter, but I will permit myself to quote you some of the things that were in it. I hate Christmas!
Posted by Paulo on December 22, 2009
Man, I hate Christmas. I can’t express to you how much I hate it. Now you may be thinking I hate Christmas because it’s a religious holiday blah blah blah but no. I don’t care that it’s a religious holiday at all. It’s the malls. It’s the traffic. It’s the cold. It’s the screaming children at Walmart forced by their parents to go to yet another store when they are already over-shopped. God. I hate fucking Christmas. The most wonderful time of the year? My ass! I’m always broke at this time of year. I don’t buy presents. I just don’t do Christmas. I tell everyone I’m Jewish. Besides, the worst things always happen to me at this time of year. I can’t go into detail about the latest incident, but let’s just say it sucks.
The best thing to do during Christmas is to drink till New Year’s and hope that it goes by quickly. Merry fucking Christmas, y’all. There… I’m done venting.

Evolution never happened
Posted by Paulo on November 6, 2009
I posted this on a comment thread a few posts back, but I realized that it needs its own post if it will ever get a chance to be heard:
- Rant Alert -
With the entire fossil record and a mountain of evidence before us in the 21st century, I don’t see how any intelligent, educated person can deny that evolution happened Read the rest of this entry »

Angry at God
Posted by Paulo on November 5, 2009
Believers have asked me before if I am angry at God. “No,” I said, “not any angrier than I am at Santa for not existing and not bringing me presents.” The belief that God is real is so ingrained in the minds of some believers that they can’t imagine a world without him. Either you’re on God’s side or you’re against him. Or you’re just plain lost. Read the rest of this entry »

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
Posted by Paulo on September 28, 2009

1. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
2. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
3. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.Psalm 14:1-3
Because I don’t believe in God, I am a fool, corrupt, filthy, and no good, eh? Read the rest of this entry »

Some thoughts on Buddhism
Posted by Paulo on August 21, 2009
When I was 18 and left the mission field and came to the US for college, no longer a Christian but with a vague belief in God and a possible afterlife, I acquired access to a large number of books at the university library. At the time, having endured and escaped the Christian world, I was not searching for religion but for knowledge about religion. Read the rest of this entry »
