Prayer Won’t Help Amputees Either

Posted by Clamence/The Chaplain on March 21, 2009

amputee11Paulo’s last post about the research study on prayer reminded me of a video I saw on YouTube titled “Why Won’t God Heal Amputees?”

The video also addresses a few other questions that are commonly raised when discussing prayer or the existence of a supernatural being. I think the creator of this video (who also has a website: Why Won’t God Heal Amputees?) does a good job of stating his conclusion succinctly: “When we assume that God exists, the answers to these ten questions make absolutely no sense. But if we assume that God is imaginary, our world makes complete sense […] you have to willfully disregard rationality and accept hundreds of bizzare rationalizations to believe in your God.” His call to action at the end is equally succinct, “It is time for you to use your intelligence to free yourself from these delusions. It is time for you to begin thinking like a rational human being, rather than clinging to imaginary friends and childhood fantasies.”

I actually used this one on a liberal Christian the other day. He just laughed at me. At least he has a good sense of humor.
